From the forest to the world: the reach of Burgundian craftsmanship

Born in Burgundy, where precision is a culture, every Remond barrel carries within it a part of this land of excellence, a true patchwork of climats. And yet, these barrels, crafted in the heart of Burgundy, now accompany the greatest wine estates in the world. This international reach bears the mark of loyalty to a craftsmanship of exception, from Burgundy with Love.
De la forêt au monde

In Burgundy, every plot of land has its own identity. That is why, for 70 years, Tonnellerie Remond has built its reputation on one philosophy: crafting barrels that reveal these micro-terroirs without ever overpowering them. The oak, air-dried for 24 to 36 months, is worked with the same rigour as the winemakers who age their wines for 12 to 24 months. Remond has exported this school of patience and precision as far as California, Chile, Australia and Japan. Everywhere, the Burgundian principles endure: a barrel that enhances the wine's aromatics without ever overpowering them, finesse of toasting, perfectly reproducible from one vintage to the next, and millimetre-precise customisation.

For if foreign winemakers come seeking a Burgundian barrel for its quality, above all they come seeking professional rigour. Wood selection remains a strong marker of French craftsmanship. Add to this a toasting with a Burgundian identity; long, precise, reproducible from one vintage to the next; and the cooper's artisanal handiwork, assembling each piece by hand, guaranteeing a consistency that is rare in the world.

This level of excellence has allowed the House of Remond to establish itself in some twenty countries, from California to Italy, from Chile to South Africa. International markets now account for 70% of its business. A growth marked by key milestones: the Californian breakthrough in the 1990s, then Italy in 2000, the rise of the Australian and Chilean vineyards, and more recently the emergence of Eastern European markets. And in a world where environmental responsibility is increasingly paramount, Remond barrels, made from sustainably managed wood, set the benchmark for traceability and durability.

But exporting a barrel also means exporting a human relationship and an expertise. Remond supports its clients over the long term, through annual visits, local consulting oenologists, and agents present in every major wine region of the world. This support,  both technical and personal, essential abroad, allows barrel profiles to be adjusted to the evolution of the wines and to regional expectations.

Thus, from the forests of Burgundy to the vineyards of the world, the House of Remond combines local excellence with international reach, faithful to a simple idea: a barrel is a bridge between a terroir and a wine.

"Whether for a Burgundy or a Napa Cabernet, our goal remains the same: to find the barrel that will bring out the very best in the wine."
